Katie was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania. She grew up in a working class family, where her mother worked at WIC as a nutritionist and her father worked in machine shops. Her mother passed away when Katie was 11, so her father raised his two children with the help of public resources like social security. Katie attended Penn State University and currently works as an adjunct professor and healthcare provider at a local University. Katie’s own personal and professional life experiences are ultimately what led her to run for office. It is clear that the government, both state and federal, is centered around profit and political gain, not public service. Katie is running for the PA State Senate to bring values-based leadership to Harrisburg and make government work for the people to ensure fairness with a level playing field so that everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
